Interesse an Integrationskursen ungebrochen hoch – Finanzierung gesichert – Innovation durch neue Kursart
Update Explained
In 2024, over 360,000 migrants began integration courses in Germany, matching the previous year's record numbers. Integration courses are fundamental for successful living in Germany, and despite provisional budget management, funding for these courses is fully secured until the end of 2025. Almost 20,000 courses were started last year, and by the end of May 2025, around 150,000 new participants had already enrolled. A significant innovation is the introduction of a new type of course aimed at migrants with basic literacy challenges, bridging the gap between those designed for illiterates and standard courses. An overhauled placement test will be released soon to better match participants with suitable course types. More than 90% of participants who completed the courses in 2024 achieved certified language proficiency, despite many facing learning difficulties due to previous traumatic experiences.
What changed
A new integration course type for 'less literate' participants was introduced, and the placement test was fully revised.
