Visa holders should switch to an eVisa now

Update Explained
The UK government is encouraging visa holders to transition from physical immigration documents, such as Biometric Residence Permits (BRPs) and Biometric Residence Cards (BRCs), to digital eVisas. Over 3 million people have already made this switch, which is part of a broader effort to digitize the UK’s border and immigration system. eVisas offer enhanced security and convenience, and are intended to streamline the immigration process. Although many BRPs and BRCs are set to expire by December 31, 2024, airlines and carriers will temporarily accept these documents as valid travel evidence until March 31, 2025. However, individuals whose underlying immigration status has expired may be refused entry. The Home Office is providing support and guidance to help individuals make this transition smoothly. Importantly, obtaining an eVisa is free, and transitioning will not alter any current immigration rights or statuses.
